Is it possible to plot a column chart as a vertical line

Column charts are two-dimensional by default having height and width. Is it possible to plot one that's one-dimensional having height only? Or is there another chart type that would do this? I basically want the chart to display what a column chart would just not have any width to the columns.
You either quit or become really good at it. There are no other choices.

Having a hard time visualizing what you want. Best thought that I have is something like a scatter graph, although you may want more flexibility in formatting the x axis as in the graph on the right of the attached file which is actually a line graph with only the markers visible.

A line chart with 100% negative error bars (assuming that the axis begins at 0 or greater), is my first thought.

Basically what I'm looking for is what you've plotted on the left graph of the attachment, but with each column being 1 pixel wide (which would turn each of the 3 columns into a vertical line). MrShorty suggested doing error bars which is how I'd make your line graph work, but I was just wandering if there's a more direct method - if this option is available on one of the standard chart types.

Mainly for the benefit of others, since you stated you would use the method when starting with the line graph on the right.
To add vertical error bars, as Mr. Shorty suggests, in version 2010:
    1) select the line markers,
    2) select chart tools > Layout > Error Bars,
    3) set direction to minus,
    4) set end style to no cap.
    You may then press 'Close'
To get rid of the line markers:
    1) select any one and all three should show as selected,
    2) from the far left of the chart tools > layout ribbon choose> format selection,
    3) choose marker options > none.
    Press close
Sorry that I don't know of a more direct method, although there may be one.
Let us know if you have any questions.

Re: Is it possible to plot a column chart as a vertical line

After doing some more research and playing around with excel: here's another simple method that draws vertical lines. This one does not involve error bars:

    - Plot data as line chart
    - Select data series on the chart
    - Chart Tools > Layout > Lines > Drop Lines
    - The original data series can be hidden by setting line to none and markers to none

    Thanks to everyone that contributed.
