how to add a line chat to a stock chart

It's easy to add a line chart to a stock Open-High-Low-Close chart b/c that chart type allows you to put the line chart onto the secondary axis. I'm having trouble, though, adding a line chart to a stock Volume-Open-High-Low-Close chart. Is that possible to do?

Without a sample workbook the best I can do is describe it verbally. Right click on the chart and select Select Data. Then click on Add Series and fill in what you can. Then click on the series and right click and select Changes Series Chart type.

I tried that.... get the dreaded "Can't combine chart types" error.

I would make the same suggestion I made over the weekend (http://www.excelforum.com/excel-prog...-with-vba.html ). The built in stock charts don't seem to like to be combined with other chart types. If your "stock" chart were a "box and whiskers" chart (basically a stacked column chart), then it would be fairly easy to combine that with a column (for volume) and a line (for average) chart.

Yeah, in OHLC stock chart I can do what you and I talked about above to show grid lines exactly where I want to see them. I can also easily plot as may line charts as I want to b/c it allows use of secondary axis. Was just wondering if there's some other kind of work-around trick for the VOHLC chart without having to split it up into two separate charts: OHLC and V (Volume).
