    Chart to Ignore 0 Values

    Hi All,

    Pretty simple question.

I have a robust management presentation however, management prefers not to show categories for which the value is 0 for the period.

My question is: Is there any way to have the chart not display 0 values? As the data is very dynamic and inconsistent, I would rather NOT move the data and selection criteria around to exclude the 0s.

Basically, I want to keep the data series in the same location however, I want the chart to not show any categories for which there is a 0 value.

For further information, each category has 3 values. 2017 YTD, Budget, and 2016 YTD.

    Thanks in advance!

My first recommendation for something like this is to use the built in autofilter (http://www.wikihow.com/Use-AutoFilter-in-MS-Excel ). You can instruct the filter to hide those 0 values, and the chart should follow. Is your spreadsheet arranged in a way that an autofilter could easily be applied to it?

Unfortunately, the solution needs to be a bit more sophistacted than this as it is impossible to use filters due to the layout of the data.

Then my next suggestion is to look at this essay (http://peltiertech.com/mind-the-gap-...g-empty-cells/ ) because I expect that the principles in that essay are going to be important to the solution. I also expect that the ideas behind "dynamic named ranges" and how they are used to build dynamic charts (http://peltiertech.com/dynamic-charts/ ) will also be important.

Beyond that, I'm not sure how much we can help without knowing how your data are arranged in the spreadsheet.

Or without beating about the bush:

Attach a sample workbook. Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.
