    Question How to create chart?

    Hmm, I´m stumped.

Im trying to create a chart based on the following data:

    Monkey 5
    Bear 5
    Monkey 2
    Monkey 4
    Bear 3
    Dog 7

I want the chart looking something like this:

Any ideas how to do this? Im using excel 2016.
    Regards
    Mattias

    Re: How to create chart?

I find that a lot of charting questions have more to do with the spreadsheet than with creating the chart. The key to creating this chart is to get the data arranged from this nice list into a nice table. Perhaps the easiest way to do this is to use a pivot table, then create a pivot chart from the pivot table. http://www.excel-easy.com/data-analy...ot-tables.html Use animal name as your row labels, the values as your column labels, and sum of values inside of the pivot table.

    Thanks!

But I had already manually set up the data in the same way the pivottable does to try that but I´m still not able to get it to work. Which type of chart would you suggest?

What I see in your picture is a regular line chart with the series formatted as marker (x) without lines.

    Hello,
I do not know what you want to accomplish with your data. My proposal using Power Query - but maybe the author has other needs :-)
You need to have PQ installed to be able to refresh the data.

    Hi,

You might assign a numeric value to each animal and then use a simple XY scatter chart.
