showing variance between amounts in bar graph? please help

    Hi there,

I am finding it hard to show data as I would like?

Please see attached for sample data.

What I would like is a column graph showing 2 bars for the months data (which I can do).

However, what I am finding hard is to show the difference (column F) amount above the 2 bars in amount with amount (percentage would be better).

    I hope you can help?

    Regards

    N

You can add a 3rd series and plot on the secondary axis so you can use the percent diff as the data label.

Re: showing variance between amounts in bar graph? please help

    Hi Andy,

Thanks for the reply and providing a example with the percentages.
    Couple of questions though?

How would I show the percentage as a increase or decrease (-) if it goes up/down against previous month?

So for example Cost Centre 2 would show -23%, cost centre 4 would show 125%

Also, please can you explain the reason for adding columns I and J?

Your help is much appreciated all.

    Regards

    N

You would need to modify the calculation in column I

    =IFERROR((E3/D3)-1,NA())

column I and J is the additional data in the chart. I has the category labels which will display the percentage difference. J has the maximum value of either column in order to position the percentage diff value above the columns.
