    Chart issue?

    Hello everyone,

I need to make a chart from 2 different charts, I think I've attached a couple of pics. I tried them all but I have no clue how to do it. Hopefully someone more expert then me will help (I use excel 2016).

    Cheers!

Edit: Apologies for not telling that they're linked. This is basically a collection of data and each person answered whether they are employed and what qualification they have. So, I just want to show the correlation between the two, for instance, the number of "elementary" people working and vice-versa. Hope it is more clear

    Re: Chart issue?

Hi and welcome to the forum

Please clarify your request. Are you saying that you have already created those two charts and you want to combine them into one?

There doesn't seem to be any particular relationship or commonality between the two other than they're both counting the incidence of things, so it seems a little odd that you want them combined.

Upload the workbook and if possible a sketch of what you want the single chart to look like.

Please do what you have been asked to do in Richard's post above yours if you would like some help.

    Re: Chart issue?

Like Richard, I don't understand what you are trying to do. I might suggest that, rather than simply bumping this topic back to the top, that you try rephrasing the question or generate a rough drawing of what you would like the chart to be in paint or something to make your request clearer.

I recognize that sometimes OPs don't really know what they want, so they post a vague question hoping that someone will make a good guess at what they need. Sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't. In the spirit of brainstorming suggestions, I could see a stacked column chart working for this. Essentially splitting each column in the second chart into "yes" and "no" stacks.

I have often observed that a lot of "charting" questions are really "spreadsheet" questions, as the chart is easy to create once you get the right data in the right arrangement in the spreadsheet. Your pictures suggest to me that you are creating these tables by pivoting a larger database. I suspect that most of the effort in creating a combined table is going to be manipulating the pivot table to get the right summary data in the right arrangement. Your pictures do not allow us to see the source data or understand how you have pivoted them to get these pivot tables, so we cannot give any specific suggestions. Can we assume that you are already skilled at using pivot tables, and the question is specific to chart creation, or will you need help generating the pivot tables as well?

    Re: Chart issue?

Hard to tell from images but if they are pivot tables/charts you could try putting the 'under employment' field in the columns (legend) fields.
