Trying to chart 2 x 2 (sort of) variables

Hi,

So i have a set of data as shown in the attachment, and I was hoping to show 2 things:
1. comparison of "boy" score against "avg" score
2. comparison of (1) set 1 against set 2

This repeats for 7 classes (A to G).

I've attached a picture (pardon my drawing!) of how I think this may be possible, but I don't know how I can achieve that using Excel.

Anyone has ideas on how I can proceed?

Couple of options.

You could use column chart and move the average columns to secondary axis.
Format the offset and gap width of columns so the boys score appears within an average column.

Or plot the average series as xy-scatter and add fixed value horizontal error bars to each series
