    Legend question

To change the order of Categories on a PivotChart, you go to Axis Options ... Categories in Reverse Order I have not done that, yet.
How do I change this legend, and put it in reverse order, to match the order on the PivotTable? Thanks.

    Re: Legend question

    Hi,

With the Chart Layout select the y axis and in the format axis section tick the 'categories in reverse order' box

    Re: Legend question

Sandy - Sorry for off-topic interjection:

Although there is no official rule regarding this behaviour, we request that wherever possible both the question AND the answer be provided in substantive detail here within the thread. An attached workbook is an excellent aid for posing a question and offering a solution, but solely doing that with no in thread explanation makes it difficult for researchers to understand or consider the Q & A of this thread without downloading what may be a pointless doc to them, if they can do that at all. Doing that also hides the content from search engines so others may never benefit from this.

I'm sure you understand, and we look forward to seeing you post your formulas/macros in your posts for the searching benefit of all.

Thanks again for all your hard work here!

    Re: Legend question

    Richard Buttrey,

This changes the y axis. What about the legend? I still don't understand how to get the legend in reverse order.

    Re: Legend question

    Open my (yours) file
On existing chart you should see Condition with greyed background, click on the arrow and from this menu select sort A-Z or Z-A, what you want

    or see movie:

    Re: Legend question

    Sandy,

No, I don't want to change the sort order in the Field. I just want to change it on the Legend. It was showing correct, for several other charts.

    Re: Legend question

    Ok, so I misunderstood, sorry

you can try do that manually but you can change order in legend only without changing order of data
    singlesort.jpg

maybe VBA solution but I don't think it will work

    Or
Right click on the chart and choose Select Data.

You can then use the up and down arrows in the "Legend Entries (Series)" box to change the order of the series on the chart.
    maybe it will work
