    Issues with plotting values: creating a few series, X-axis values are not stored

    Hello!

    I have two questions.

    First question.
    I am trying to replicate the graph, which in the yellowish box, and shows 3 scenarios - worst, base, best. When I try to create series based on the same table "Scratch work for chart", I get bizarre results:

    (1) when I add new series, say, worst case, I put the name in the name box, then select correct values for Y and X axis (just like they did in the yellowish box);
    (2) then I add a second one, base case, select X and Y values for this series, just like in the yellowish box, but then immediately X-axis values I added in the previous step for the worst case change to the new set of X-axis values I set in this second step;
    (3) same happens when I add the best case - now X-axis values for all series are set to this new set of X-axis values.

    Why does this happen? What is my mistake, and how can I plot these series to replicate the original graph? Please, see the Excel file attached, and a screen shot. My graphing attempt is below the correct one - you will see it; looks rather bad.

    Second question.

    How did they "draw" this nice green circle with the number one in it, and three arrows coming out of it? It seems that these are outside pictures attached, is it correct? Is it possible to do the same using Excel tools?

    Thank you very much!

    I tend to use XY scatter charts (with a value X axis) in my work rather than column/line/etc (with a category/text axis), so I am not as experienced with these column charts. However, what I have seen when I have used them -- Excel does not like a different category X axis range for each data series (like it does so easily for scatter charts). What I have found that works best for column charts (and others with a category axis) is to have a single range/column for all of the x axis data. To get different series, use separate columns (with appropriate blank cells) for the y axis data:

    The first column of this range is then used as the category x axis range for all of the data series, and each column is used for the values range.

    I am truly sorry, but you lost me here. I don't understand what I have to do because I don't understand what you mean, and I don't understand the code part.
