Need help with labeling the axis so that the graph will have day vs volt, not Date vs volt

    Hello,
I need help plotting my data. I collect thousands of data points on a weekly basis and would like to generate a graph of days vs voltage (mV). Basically, I want to create a graph with day (for example, with the increment starting from Day 1, Day 10, Day 20, Day 30, etc) versus voltage (mV). Currently my graphs show Date (ex, 5/31/2017, 6/1/2016, etc.) vs voltage (mV).
Also, is there a way I can input one formula to a column and make it automatically apply to all the new data that I add later on so when I add more data into the worksheet I don't have to drag down the previous cell to make sure the formula is also applied to the new data set.
    Thank you for your helps.

The easy way is to format the graph axis as a number, but that will start as a high number. You can also create a new column with the date minus the starting date ( i.e. B3-$B$2) copy that in the whole column, format that column as a number and plot it against the voltage. That will give you the number of days past starting date on your x-axis. Excel usually copies the next cell from above when you add a row, but maybe there is a setting to turn that on or off.

By the way, This should be in the general Excel forum rather than the VBA/macro forum. I don't know how you can move it.

No, it's a charting and pivots query - I have moved it.

Thank you for your response. I don't understand what you meant in term of starting as a high number. I tried to create a new column with the date minus the starting date and input B3-$B$2 as my formula and copy that in the whole column it just gives me 0 for all. Any other suggestions would be much appreciated. I am not so good with Excel. Thanks!

When I used B3-$B$2 in the first tab of your spread sheet it looked like all zeroes because you had many from the same date. It did reached day 19 on tab one of your worksheet, then you had some weird dates (19/... something - were these European date formats?). My setup didn't read them as dates.

By a high number I meant the first date would be many thousand - number of days after Jan 1, 1900. Subtracting your first date gives you days after the starting date. If that is OK, you can click on the x-axis and choose Format Axis, scroll down to number and change from "date" to "number."
