    'Refresh all' - error for external link that is not excisting

    Hi 'Exc-all',

    My spreadsheet doesn't have links to external data. Als if I search into all formula's to ".xls", Excel doesn't find anything. But somehow if I 'refresh all' data I get the error that it cannot find an external spreadsheet. The link Excel is searching is an old tab of a previous version of this document. But again, this Excel doesn't have any links to external data.

    Is anyone familiair with solving such an issue/error.

    Have you tried editing links via the option on the data ribbon?

    Can you attach the workbook here?

    Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment, so to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

    Now I actually can click on the 'editing links', but I cannot change or remove the link...

    Very anoying!!

    You have data validation rules in columns E and H on the Personeelslijst sheet that refer to the missing workbook.

    The most likely causes, besides formulas or data connections, were defined names, data validation or conditional formatting, so I applied brute force - deleting each sheet in turn until the edit links dialog was disabled, then searching the offending sheet for the likely options.
