    Trying to create a Dashboard for Time sheet Tracker

    Hello all,

    I am trying to create a simple dashboard for data that is currently stored in a table format.

    I tried to create two pivot tables (how can I get them on the same page and controlled by the same slicers?) I attempted to do it but my result wasn't very good. Ideally I want to be able to see the data at a glance, but I'm getting confused on how to get it to display in pivot chart.

    For those of you familiar with dashboards, I would appreciate some feedback on how to best lay this out with the columns I have. Please see attachment.

    Bit difficult to help you as you didn't describe how each values are related (rate, hours, total cost. It's not readily apparent from your sample data).

    For simple dashboard using Pivot Charts and connected slicers. Refer to link below. The site is one of best resource out there for Excel dashboard design that I know.

    Ok sorry, I will try to explain. Also, I will review that site you posted to see if I can figure some stuff out on my own as well.

    Essentially every employee is assigned to a stream. The projects are tracked by stream. So I'd like to know things like how many hours in a month was billed to a stream, what was the total cost (internal, that's the rate * hours)

    Making a dashboard for this may be a little bit overkill to be honest, what do you think? I can do it all manually pretty fast too but thought dashboard would be more nifty

    The site linked is pretty good, if anything I"ll review that and see how I can apply it

    Personally, I'd get PowerPivot and PowerQuery add-ins to do more time intelligence analysis.

    But see attached for basic set up. Takes about 3 minutes to set up once you are used to it.

    Note: Once 1st pivot is created, all subsequent pivots are created by copying the 1st Pivot. This will ensure that pivot cache isn't duplicated (bloating file size).

    To connect slicers, once all pivots are created. Create slicer from any one of the pivot. Right click on slicer and "Report Connections" check all pivots that share same source.

    That's really good! thanks Unfortunately some of the features don't work in my version of Excel, but I'll give your information a shot.
