    Adding data from IBM Cognos to Excel pivot table

    I have a report set to run everyday in IBM Cognos. I want that information to automatically update into my excel pivot table. How to i connect these two to communicate together? I saw a report that had a button that you could press in the spreadsheet that would update the information then it would refresh it into the pivot table. Is this possible?

    Right click on PivotTable and select Refresh
    or
    PivotTable options - Data - Refresh data when opening the file

    I know how to refresh that data. What i am trying to do it connect the Cognos report to my pivot table.

    this is exactly the same as right click and refresh

    automatically update means? every second, every minute, after open file, .....

    Attach a sample workbook. Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

    Click on GO ADVANCED and then scroll down to Manage Attachments to open the upload window.

    Ok, i think i am wording my question wrong. I do not have a pivot table yet. I have a Cognos report. What i want to do and need help on is connecting the external data from cognos into excel.

    I use the program IBM Cognos to run certain reports. I want excel and Cognos to talk to each other. Is that possible?

    If you've this report in your Excel simply create PivotTable from this report

    or

    Data - From Other Sources - select appropriate server (contact to your Cognos provider to get correct server name and authentication. They should do it for you)
