Excel 2017 Chart Text Box - Clipboard paste & text wrapping problems

I have 2 problems with Excel charts and text box creation:

    a) Selecting Clipboard 'paste all'/'click an item to paste' (to copy some text from notepad) does not work

    b) Creating a text box and pasting notepad text - the pasted text does not wrap to the RH text box border (it overlaps by several words)

The general look and feel of text boxes is 'clunky' vs Excel 2003 (Win7 x64)

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

    Excel 2017? A typo?

Yes, it's an annoyance when editing the content of a text box. I've learned to right-click on the box and select "Edit text" from the context menu before pasting.

In 2013 and 2016, and I think in Excel 2010, you can find, among the formatting options, "Resize shape to fit text" and "Allow text to overflow shape". I have word wrap active when these options are not selected.

I'm not sure what you mean by "the general look and feel" is "clunky". It is different. I do enjoy that any shape can be used as a text box. The box fill color, border color and border line width are configurable. The font face, font size, and font color are also configurable. Most people don't notice, but in the font formatting dialog box are the options for all caps and for small caps (not a true small caps font, but OK with smaller type sizes).

The capability to link the string contents of a text box or a chart or axis title to a cell is very nice. Makes dynamic content so much easier: https://support.office.com/en-us/art...5-06d112c2099f

Oops ... Never post in haste !

'Word wrap active' is the key to this, many thanks. It had never occurred to me that it would be anything else.

Re the 'clunky feel' - I was encountering irregular cursor movements in text boxes, but will post again if it re-occurs, or if it manifests itself in another way.
