total noob to charting/pivot, best way to display the data graphically

    Hi guru's

So I have a project that has a budget and the guidelines from finance is, forget any extra funding.

I just want some ideas on what can be done with charts/pivots. I have no idea how to use these.

Have a look at the attached, this is all the information we need to capture.

Whats the best way to display the actual cost and the expected costs in a pretty way for management.

Before you consider charts you should decide whether your data is organized properly for whatever analysis you want to perform.
actual cost and the expected costs
It's not at all clear to me what numbers on this sheet are actual costs and expected costs. Can you provide more of a description of what you attached?

Like I said, I am a total noob when it comes to charting data, which is probably why it isn't organized correctly.

All calculations appear on the Calculations tab

Row 4 is the fortnight totals of normal time, as in not overtime/penalties rates
    Row 5 is a running total, for exampleFN1 + FN2 equals, etc

Row 7 and 8 are the same as above just totaling the overtime

Row 9 is the total of Normal and overtime rates
Row 10 is the budget for a expected

Does that help in any way?

My 'vision' would be to have a line graph showing the budget from 0(zero) to 50,000(example) in a straight line(excuse my terms), Then plot the overall costs on another line

Maybe a separate graph showing normal and overtime costs/

The first chart was made by choosing row 10 (columns A:AF), inserting a line chart based on that row, then selecting data from row 9 (columns C:AF with A9 being the series name. The second chart was produced in a similar manner from rows 5 and 8.

Your Total is a fortnightly total but your budget is cumulative. I have added a row of a fortnightly budget to do a line graph. See chart on sheet Calculations.
