How to create a table or diagram based on multiple rows and columns

maybe it is late or whatever might be the reason, but i do not seem to figure out a seemingly simple case.

I have an excel sheet with contact persons (rows) and for each person we need to document the date we contacted each one of them per stage (columns). I attached an illustrateive file.

No i want to keep track of the progress and would need some kind of pivot table telling me the number of (count) contacts per stage (shown in rows) and per date (shown in columns). Alternatively, it would also be helpful to take a look at the data in a bar chart. both would help me to see at a glance how many persons we got to stage 1, 2 and/or 3 at a certain date.

How can I realize that? would i need to create a mapping table next to the dataset or is there another way?

Hi , Can you please suggest if you have access to slicer function which comes with higher version of excel like 2013. I see u r running on 2003 from your profile. PLease confirm. Also if you can ellaborate more on your ask in functional terms just llike what you did while mentioning "both would help me to see at a glance how many persons we got to stage 1, 2 and/or 3 at a certain date." Meanwhile check this out. I have create a simple logical report for you to run it with a date and it will give you a number of stage wise connects for all connects done on or before that date. For latest status , run report on current date and it should show you all data

thanks for your help. after sleeping over it i figured that i could create a mapping table easily by using count if formula for each stage, where the top row depicts the calendar week and the different stages are shown in rows on the far left. based on that table, i could then create a bar chart.

the only negative point about it is that i need to update the chart and table range once a week. a situation i can live with at the moment.
