Good afternoon everyone.
So I have a great number of assets, and each of these assets has its own defects with values, clock positions, footages, remarks, etc.
Currently these are all in a table, where the asset's ID, Total Footage, Date of Inspection, Diameter, Material, and other information is repeated every row for every defect attached to that ID.
What I would like is a pivot table in which displays my assets and related asset information, as in the last paragraph, with a '+' pivot table mark to drop down all the defects associated with that asset, as in the first paragraph, as well as all their respective information.
Is this possible without using VBA? Since I have to send this to people not familiar with Excel, I would like to avoid anything that would cause confusion or wouldn't work easily with another.
When I try to use a normal pivot table, I run into two problems. First - I can only display the asset ID. I can't display all the other static information associated with that asset.
And second, while I can get a drop down for the defect codes, any numerical information has to undergo some value change (sum, etc) and since that can't happen with text, the latter ends up as 0's or errors.
