power query with Pivot table (calculating 2 different date value difference)

    Hi to all,

I'm quite new to pivot table and i trying to create a custom difference column for daily sales. Was wondering can anyone guide me along. Tried calculated field and calculated item but not sure how should i add in for the formula.

As you can see from the image, I would like to add in the difference column at the E column showing the total difference example dated 30/11/17 to the latest date loaded from my data. And the difference value can also be change according to the date I would like to compare example 30/11/17 and 1/12/17.

is this possible for pivot table?
    Appreciate any help!

    1. Excel 2003 doesn't support PowerQuery & PowerPivot - change Excel version in your profile
    2. No one want retype your data - attach example, desensitized excel file (xlsx, xlsm, xlsb) with BEFORE (what you have) and AFTER (what you want to achieve)

To attach an Excel file to your post,
    • click Go Advanced,
    • scroll down until you see Manage Attachments,
    • click that and select Browse,
    • select your file and click Open,
    • click Upload and you will see your attachment below Upload Files from a website
    • click Close this window,
    • click Submit reply

After that you should see attachment in your post

    Hi Sandy,
Thanks for the reply but probably there's a misunderstanding. I actually just want to know is it possible to add a custom column to calculate the difference for daily value in the pivot table as by default there are only grand sum total option. Doesn't really require anyone to retype my data whereas if possible, can provide me with an example or any helpful tips will be great!

    Cheers

There is no Calculated Column in PivotTable. You can add Calculated Field
    or
in source add column with calculation then create PivotTable

but Ex2003 is not my favorite version
