    Add a line to an excel automated sliding scale chart

    Hey everyone,

    Relative excel newbie here so excuse me if this appears stupid!

    I have downloaded from Excel's templates a cash flow template (which I attach) which has a very nice sliding scale chart in the second tab, with the data entered in Tab 1.

    Effectively I was wanting to add a few more data lines to the automated chart on the second tab.An example would be that I would like to add Accounts Receivable as indicated on line 37 of the first tab. I have tried to do this myself by naming the start, but would someone be able to talk me through adding this? This may be unrealistic etc, but any pointers would be great.

    You need to add more Named ranges to define data range to use for new series.

    From the ribbon use Formula > Defined Names > Name Manager.

    This is one of the existing named ranges
    CashPaidOutDataValues :=OFFSET(CashPaidOutStart,,TotalDataPoints-1,1,-TotalDataPoints)

    Once you have defined the new named ranges for start and data values you can use the Select Data dialog, for the chart, to add a series and assign named range to values.
    Cheers

    Andy,

    Many many thanks for that! Once I knew where I was looking I was able to reverse engineer the formulae.

    Thanks again and have a great Christmas!
