    Adding the third axis or...

Hey folks, I'm new here, but I have an issue. First of all, I know there's no adequate way to add a third axis in Excel. Buuuuut maybe there's another elegant way to solve my issue. Please, check this out:

See how I already use two axis to display percentage of the change between 2016 and 2017 to give the smoother feel of what it really looks like.

My concern, obviously is that because I did that "hack" in red, now all the other bars got moved to the right of their corresponding areas on the graphs. Sure enough, if I have the red bar on another axis, the issue kinda disappears.

Maybe there's an elegant way to stop Excel from putting the placeholder for the red bar in each month?

    Thanks!

Will you please attach a sample Excel workbook? We are not able to work with or manipulate a picture of one and nobody wants to have to recreate your data from scratch.

    1. Make sure that your sample data are REPRESENTATIVE of your real data. The use of unrepresentative data is very frustrating and can lead to long delays in reaching a solution.

    2. Make sure that your desired results are also shown (mock up the results manually).

    3. Make sure that all confidential data is removed or replaced with dummy data first (e.g. names, addresses, E-mails, etc.).

    4. Try to avoid using merged cells as they cause lots of problems.

Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment, so to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

Please pay particular attention to point 2 (above): without an idea of your intended outcomes, it is often very difficult to offer appropriate advice.

Weird. The image works perfectly for me.

Well, if you will, here's the same screen shot on a third-party hosting: https://i.imgur.com/Ch77syf.jpg

There's no sense to rebuild the graph with sample data since everything is obvious from the screenshot and I don't need anyone to waste their time and try to fix it.

I just want an advice from someone who solved it before hence knows the solution and doesn't need to look for it. This issue doesn't look unique/complex enough to need a real example.

Oh, looks like I figured out a hack for it. I just added an empty series and made them invisible on the graph, so only their placeholders remain on the graph, balancing out the red bar:

Wonderful. In case someone needs it.

    Thanks!
