Slice a table by columns, not just rows?

    Hey all,

I'm trying to create some charts and graphs that represent inventory stored at different locations. That data is in the table below the blank space (where the charts will hopefully go). I have a slicer that can sort by product, but I would like to also be able to sort by location. For example, one pie chart where you pick a location and it shows you what product is there, and another pie chart where you pick a product and it shows you what locations it is in.

Do I need to make a pivot table for this? And how do I need to format the table so I can sort by both product and location?
Sheet is attached with example data.

I'm pretty experienced in other aspects of excel but new to charting, so thanks in advance for your help.

If you are going to use this data in a pivot table to select either by location or grade, you are going to have to "normalize;"it.

    Location|Grade|Qty

So there would be two FA Records:
    BCS(WSI)|FA|1
    WDS(WSI)|FA|1

It really doesn't matter which order the columns are in. Also the the reason you only need two records is because there is no sense in making a record for which there is no data.

Somewhere in my archives I have a data normalizer program. If I can dig it up, I'll post it.
One spreadsheet to rule them all. One spreadsheet to find them. One spreadsheet to bring them all and at corporate, bind them.

A picture is worth a thousand words, but a sample spreadsheet is more likely to be worked on.
