Pivot chart for survey with multiple answers possible

Hi! I'm trying to make pivot tablefor a survey.
The columns of my pivot table has 3 categories, defined by the answer of Q1.
Followed by mc questions of which a couple allow multiple answers. Each answer has an own column in my dataset, like so:
Q2.1, Q2.2, Q2.3, which for Q2.1 will either be "1" or "empty" and so on.
When I try to add all the columns for one question (Q2.1, Q2.2, Q2.3) in my pivot chart as rows, they become columns in the rows.
It's also one big mess because of the empty cells.
I basically just want the absolute numbers per answer (row), per category (column).

    Thanks in advance!

Edit: I cannot attach a file, so here is an image to make things more clear.

    Hi sippie,

Can you just exclude the blanks in your pivot?

It would also help if you post a file with dummy data that shows an example of your issue.
Remember you are unique, like everyone else

Hi there! I excluded the blanks by unchecking them in the pivot, but that results in an empty pivot for some reason (see image).
I'm really bad at Excel, so do you maybe mean another way to exclude the blanks?
This forum also doesn't let me add my file, so I uploaded the excel file of the example above here: https://ufile.io/qg9tf
Can you maybe make an pivot table with column B as columns categories (1,2,3) and column L-Q as seperate rows in the pivot and upload it?
I think that'd help me figure out how to do the rest

Hello Sippie and Welcome to Excel Forum.
According to the third party site the file is 680 kb which is allowable by this site (up to 1000 kb), although the paper clip icon doesn't work.
To upload a workbook click on the GO ADVANCED button below the Quick Reply window and then scroll down to Manage Attachments to open the upload window.
