My bars are not matching up with percentages on axis

    Hi guys,

Urgently need help with regards to my percentage axis!

I have an axis on the left hand side, but my bars/columns are all the same length! I have the percentages populated but they do not fall in line with the axis (basically all the lines are staying at the same height!)

Can someone please help? Please see workbook attached - refer to the tab which says 'latest'.

    Thanks so much!

    R.

I suspect it is something to do with the right-hand side. I would be grateful if someone could please advise. Many thanks!!

Your chart is currently linked to integer data, and I do not see where in the spreadsheet you have calculated the percentages. It looks to me like you need to:

    1) Compute the percentages somewhere convenient in the spreadsheet. I am not sure exactly how you intend to calculate percentages nor where you would like to store those calculations.
    2) Link the chart series to the range where the percentages are calculated.

Does that help? Do you need help with a formula to compute percentages? Do you need help changing the source data for the chart?

    Hi MrShorty,

I have used formulas. See tab LatestV2 in the workbook attached and the yellow table - this is what I am referencing. It still is not what I am trying to do... I need the columns to be different sized according to the axis!!!

Thanks so much for offering to help!

Re: My bars are not matching up with percentages on axis

I think I understand. In your formula, you are converting a decimal/fraction to a per cent by multiplying by 100. Then, in your chart, you format the axis as percent, where Excel again "multiplies" by 100 and adds the per cent symbol %. So the chart is seeing values that are hundreds of per cent, and these values do not fit on a 0 to 90% scaled axis. Two possible solutions:

    1) Drop the *100 in your formulas and let Excel's number formatting convert the resulting decimals/fractions to per cent.
    2) Drop the per cent formatting from the axis and show the numbers as general (axis limits 0 to 90, if you still want the axis to show 0 to 90 per cent).

Either of those approaches should work.
