Trying to create a nice looking chart/graph to show mean time to resolve

    Hello everyone,

I'm trying to take some existing data and create a chart to show mean time to resolve problem tickets. I work in technologly and I ahve several desktop teams that report to me.

So for different ticket types, I am trying to show a chart that will cover how long it took for each of them to resolve.

The ticket types are P2s, P3s, and P4s.

The data in this example is

    P2: 1:53:52
    P3: 9:18:42
    P4 10:06:27

The numbers listed are in hh:mm:sec

I'm trying to come up with a way to show this, based on covering saying 12 hours but I am struggling getting it to appear correctly.

Take a look at my example.

I have the numbers plugged into this chart, but nothing is showing.

Can someone please help me figure out what I'm doing wrong?

    Hello

If I've understood you correctly, the simplest way to do this is in cells A1, A2 and A3, type in "P2", "P3" and "P4".
Then in cells B1, B2 and B3 type in the associated mean times.
All you need to do then is select everything from A1 to B3. Then click on the insert tab, click on the column chart button and click on the first top-left chart.

That should give you the basics of what you need. Then all you need to do is click on the Chart Tools tab at the top of the tool bar. Click on the Layout tab and use the appropriate buttons on the toolbar to add your various titles and legends etc and you're done.

If you've done all this already then I'd suggest
    right-clicking on the chart,
    click on "Select Data",
then click on each data series in turn and click the edit button.
You'll see a small Edit Series pop-up window. Click the little box with the red diagonal arrow in at the end of the Series Values and see which cell has the dashed line around it. If it's not the value associated with the relevant P ticket then simply click on the value that it should be.
Click through all the OKs when you've done all of that and your graph should now be showing what you need.
