Help with Choosing a graph style

First let me say that I've never had to create a chart in Excel. So I would like to create a chart to keep track of my 401k. I've been keeping a daily track of the current dollar value of my investment versus my total dollar contributions. I would like the left side of my graph to display a solid line for my total dollar contributions and the bottom of the graph to display the date and the marker would be the current dollar value for that date. On my spreadsheet column B displays the current dollar value of my investment and and cell(I3) contains the sum of my total dollar contributions. How can I achieve this graph successfully. In other words I would like to see how my total investment is performing in relation to my contribution. If this is the wrong type of graph to achieve what I am looking for, please let me know. The graph below displays the total dollar contributions but not as a solid line. I really hope this makes sense. Thank You.contibutions.png
