    Treemap Issues

    Hello,

I am trying to build treemap graphs for a presentation that will be in PowerPoint. I know that I am not using the chart function exactly as planned but am hoping someone can help. I have created the following treemap, but am having issues with double labels showing up on the graph. Here is the graph:
    Treemap_Issue2.png
And here is my data spreadsheet for the graph:

Thank you for your help in fixing this issue!

    Re: Treemap Issues

Will you please attach a sample Excel workbook? We are not able to work with or manipulate a picture of one and nobody wants to have to recreate your data from scratch.

    1. Make sure that your sample data are REPRESENTATIVE of your real data. The use of unrepresentative data is very frustrating and can lead to long delays in reaching a solution.

    2. Make sure that your desired results are also shown (mock up the results manually).

    3. Make sure that all confidential data is removed or replaced with dummy data first (e.g. names, addresses, E-mails, etc.).

    4. Try to avoid using merged cells as they cause lots of problems.

Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment, so to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

Please pay particular attention to point 2 (above): without an idea of your intended outcomes, it is often very difficult to offer appropriate advice.

    Re: Treemap Issues

I created the treemap in PowerPoint. I am not able to upload the PowerPoint file as it says it is an invalid format. However, I attached the excel file that was used to copy into the PowerPoint. My goal is to fix the double label issue on the charts. In the pictures in my original post you can see the double label issues I am having.

    Re: Treemap Issues

I changed it to none in my PPT. But I am still having issues with the label. The forum will not let me post a link to the PPT file. Anyone know how I can share that?

    Re: Treemap Issues

I know this isn't a PPT forum, but my issue is with the chart in PPT that is created the same way it would be created in XLS. We create all our charts in PPT so it is easy for everyone to make the changes in one file and not multiple to have a chance in errors. I have attached a zip file of the PPT with the chart that shows the double label issue I am having. Thank you for working with me to identify the issue!

    Re: Treemap Issues

If you look at the chart on the left, the purple box has a label in white and a label in black. Hence the "double label" issue. Similar to the original picture I posted in this thread.

    Cool Re: Treemap Issues

All what you want to see in PPT you must prepare in Excel, then copy/paste (source formatting/destination - choose one)
Your "picture" in PPT should be linked to your source excel file automatically.

for the rest of problem with PowerPoint go to PowerPoint sub forum.

    Re: Treemap Issues

Looks like the data labels are screwed up for some reason. I can not replicate using your data in either ppt or xl.

What if you delete and reapply data labels, does the issue remain?

    Re: Treemap Issues

    you can try
    from your ppt
    right click on label and
    • Format Data Labels
    • Text Options
    • Text Fill => no fill

but this is eliminating the consequences of the problem not solve double labels problem in your PPT
