I have a schedule spreadsheet. I have a pivot table. I copied the pivot table to a new workbook. I did not copy any data or tabs. I emailed the new workbook thinking that they'd be able to open it and manipulate the pivot table. I thought the data was cached.
Now I am wondering if it is linked.
I made a change on my spreadsheet and refreshed the pivot table. Then I closed my spreadsheet and opened the one that only has the pivot table. I refreshed it and the change made in the other workbook appeared.
Any idea what I did wrong? I'm going to assume that it won't work at the other end if it is linked to my original spreadsheet. The person I am sending it to doesn't need all the data in a big multi tabbed workbook. All they need is the finalized schedule which is a pivot table. But, since the table is still a few hundred rows we want him to be able to expose or hide whatever data suits his need at the moment.
I wish I would just paste that pivot table into the body of an outlook email and still be able to expand, contract, etc. But I didn't figure that out yet.
