    Creating Automotive parts kits.

Hi All and thank you for any help in advance,

I'm trying to group different parts much like a Pivot table but need to return the text values in my spread sheet. My spread sheet has the vehicle fitment information for the individual components and the components themselves. So for a particular vehicle I mat have 2 brake pad sets lets call them (1BP) and (2BP) and 2 variations of the rotor and lets call them (1BR) and (2BR). I need to group the parts and have each grouping in its own row. Some vehicles may have 3 different rotors and 3 different pads so it has to be a little flexible

Thanks for any help you can offer.

    Willie

I think you are going to have to explain to us how you got 1BP, 2BP, C type Clip etc. from the data.
One spreadsheet to rule them all. One spreadsheet to find them. One spreadsheet to bring them all and at corporate, bind them.

A picture is worth a thousand words, but a sample spreadsheet is more likely to be worked on.

The part number of the brake pad is dependent on what caliper was used during the assembly process so we identify them by using the clip style. the rotor is ether 330 or 350mm depending on the assembly so the possible kits would be
    1BP & 1BR, (C type clip pads & 350mm rotors)
    1BP & 2BR, (C type clip pads & 330mm rotors)
    2BP & 1BR, (D type clip pads & 350mm rotors)
    2BP & 2BR, (D type clip pads & 330mm rotors)

is there a way to accomplish this from a spreadsheet? The part numbers are just an example not real partnumbers.

I'm looking at the actual data sheet. I see nothing about clip style nor do I see 1BP or 2BP. I have no idea how you are pulling rows. Once I get a row, I can parse out the 330 or 350 mm.

The sample would be much easier to work with. i can apply the formula to the actual data. The complete data sheet is over 800K rows.

I need a way to insert lines and create all possible combinations from the data in the partterminology column. I created a pivot table in sheet2 you can check the actual values there. the sample was just an example of how it needed to be done.

Is this what you want (see Sheet 2). Sheet 3 is a grossly simplified version. Are you sure you need all those things concatenated in column BC? Being a non-mechanical type myself, I don't see how engine or fuel system or transmission should affect what kind of brakes a vehicle has.
