Question create x-axis and a y-axis chart as an image horizontal and vertical values

How can I please create two axes, a horizontal axis (or x-axis) and a vertical axis (or y-axis) chart with the same values as on the attached image.

The idea is to have a pre determine two cell values intersect appears on the created sheet with the attached image on the background.F169F875-B129-492A-9CDB-07A59E43121F.jpeg

Not sure I understand your question. It should be as simple as creating an XY scatter chart. I don't understand what you mean by having the attached image on the background. I would not try to put an image like that on the background, I would simply add the polygon to the scatter chart as another data series.

help file for creating scatter charts: https://support.office.com/en-us/art...tter_line_2010 note that the directions for doing this in 2007 should be similar to the directions for 2010.

I have no data to use, I just need please to create XY axis empty chart that will match in size and value the attached image.
After connecting a two cell values to the chart, I should be able to see if the intersection of that two cells values falls in the pink shaded are of the image or not.

Excel does not like to create charts without at least one data series. Even if the cells are blank, you will need to select cells for at least one data series to get a chart generated. I am also not sure why you don't have the data for the corners of the polygon (even if you just read them off of your picture). Here's how I would make this chart:

    1) Create table of x,y points for the polygon:
Please Login or Register to view this content.
    2) Select this table and insert scatter chart - lines without markers.
    3) Format scatter chart as desired. (axis limits and whatever other formats need to be made).
    4) Enter x, y data for test point in a convenient pair of cells. (or at least decide which two cells are going to contain the x,y data for the test point data series).
    5) Using Select Source data dialog, add a second data series for the test point.
    6) Format this newly added data series so that it has a marker (maybe no lines).

Is that even close to what you are trying to do? What do you get stuck on?

I created a table of x,y points for the polygon.

I am now stuck on how to connect my reference two cells values with the created chart for their intersection point to appear on the chart with the created polygon, ( step #5 ).

Re: create x-axis and a y-axis chart as an image horizontal and vertical values

This help file is for newer versions (there should be a similar help file in your Excel installation): https://support.office.com/en-us/art...f-79983125df12

In 2007 (assuming you are still using 2007 like your profile indicates), I would:

    5a) Select Chart
5b) Chart Tools -> Design -> Select Data to bring up the select data dialog
5c) Click the Add button to add another data series and bring up the dialog for choosing the ranges.
5d) Select the appropriate ranges for X values, Y values, and name.
5c) Click OK to dismiss dialogs until you are back to the chart. Then select new data series and format as needed.

I did just that, unfortunately the new data will not display!
    In the Select Data Source window I had the following message;
“ The data is too complex to be displayed, if a new range is selected, it will replace all of the series in the series panel”!

Re: create x-axis and a y-axis chart as an image horizontal and vertical values

I cannot debug why the data will not display from this side of the internet. Hopefully something here will help you debug.

That is a common message when you have multiple different x,y ranges in a scatter chart. that message suggests to me that you successfully added the second data series to the chart. I cannot say why you cannot see it. Two quick things to check:

Earlier you said that you have no data, yet, to chart. Did you leave the cells for the second data series blank? If either is blank, Excel will not chart anything for the second data series. If this is the case, it should resolve itself when you enter some data into those cells.

What sub-type of scatter chart are you using? If you are using "lines without markers" and your second data series is a single point, then the second data series will be invisible -- no marker to show the single point, and no lines since there are not multiple points to connect. Select the data series (use the dropdown list of chart elements in the Format ribbon of the Chart tools ribbon) and format it to have a marker.

Re: create x-axis and a y-axis chart as an image horizontal and vertical values

I had no data for the chart, however I had data in the two reference cells I mentioned, therefore the issue was like you kindly stated, I was using lines without markers, changing the chart type resolved the issue.

One last thing please, what are the steps needed to enlarge the marker size for the added data only, without having to enlarge all the polygon series.

The marker seems to be too small inside the created polygon!

Marker size is readily changed via the format data series dialog.
