Plotting repeated values on X axis and different values on Y axis

Hi all

I have some measurements done at 30-minute intervals and I would like to show the pattern on a graph. In the attachment I would like to plot Rn (y-axis) against Time (x-axis) and as you can see, the time is repeated on the x-axis. The pattern should look like the one in the picture on the spreadsheet. How do I use excel to do that?

Presumably your picture shows data over 3 successive days, but your column A only has times of day and does not include any date information. You will need to add in something to represent the date.

I have added 1 to the times on the first day, then 2 to the second day, then 3 for the next day, and so on, using copy | paste special | add | ok. Note that the value shown in the formula bar for A3 is 1/1/1900 00:06:00, although the value shown in the cell is unchanged. Your graph would be as shown in the attached file - I've not played about with it very much.

Your picture shows 4 different series, so you would need to add these in other columns.

Thanks Pete. It works. Yes, the data were collected over three successive days, in fact the original time stamp shows the day, month and year but I had extracted only the time part of it not knowing that the date is necessary as well. Adding more series is not a problem, I can do that, thanks again.

Further to this, I changed the graph type to an XY scatter plot with lines and played about a bit with the formatting, so it looks more like the picture you included.
