Sum of Max

Hi All,

I have a pivot table that has two columns, showing the max value of the dataset in each.

I want to add a calculated field that sums the two max values.

Everything I have tried so far only sums the sum of each column.

What am I missing?

E.g

Max A	Max B	Max Total
3	5	8
1	6	7
3	3	6

Do you have Power Pivot available? I don't think you can do it without that (at least not without doing the calculations in the source data or outside the pivot table).

Unfortunately I don't have Power Pivot.

As Rory states you could add a column outside the pivot table. A possible formula to populate the column could be: =IF(E4="","",SUM(F4,G4))
Note that the formula is applied to rows 4:11 to show that it will expand contract along with the pivot table.
