    Creating a Galvanic Series

    Hello...I am trying to make a galvanic series table with values I have found through research for my university capstone project. For those of you who don't know what that is, it is essentially a material properties table that shows which materials will corrode others more quickly due to their electrical charges (a picture is attached below). What I am unsure about is how to make one of these tables myself with the information I have in excel. Would someone please help me out with this?

    I am new to the forum so it won't allow me to post a link but please look up galvanic series in google images and you will see what I mean

    and my data is in the format as follows (Sorry about the formatting...):
    Magnesium and Magnesium Alloys -1.60 to -1.63
    Zinc -1.00 to -1.15
    Beryllium -0.93 to -0.99
    Aluminum - Anode -1.10 to -0.75
    Zinc -0.98 to -1.03
    Aluminum Alloys -0.76 to -1.00
    Cadmium -0.66 to -0.72
    Mild Steel (Clean & Shiny) -0.60 to -0.71
    Mild Steel (rusted) -0.46 to -0.50
    Cast Iron (not Graphitized) -0.43 to -0.17
    Stainless Steels -0.31 to -0.58
    Stainless Steel, Type 316 (active in saltwater) -0.30 to -0.54
    Aluminum Bronze (92% Cu, 8% Al) -0.30 to -0.42
    Tin
    Copper -0.30 to -0.57
    Naval Brass (60% Cu, 39% Zn) -0.30 to -0.40
    Yellow Brass (65% Cu, 35% Zn) -0.30 to -0.40
    Red Brass (85% Cu, 15% Zn) -0.30 to -0.40
    Muntz Metal (60% Cu, 40% Zn) -0.30 to -0.40
    Admirality Brass (71% Cu, 28% Zn, 1% Sn) -0.28 to -0.36
    Aluminum Brass (76% Cu, 22% Zn, 2% Al) -0.28 to -0.36
    Silicone Bronze (96% Cu max, .8% Fe, 1.5% Zn, 2% Si, .75% MN, 1.6% Sn) -0.26 to -0.29
    90% Cu, 10% Ni -0.21 to -0.28
    75% Cu, 20% Ni, 5% Zn -0.19 to -0.25
    Lead -0.19 to -0.25
    70% Cu, 30% Ni -0.18 to -0.23
    Stainless Steel, Type 304 (passive) -0.05 to -0.10
    Stainless Steel, Type 316 (passive) 0.00 to -0.10
    Titanium 0.06 to -0.05
    Platinum 0.25 to 0.19
    Carbon, Graphite, Coke 0.30 to 0.20

    Thank you very much!

    Re: Creating a Galvanic Series

    That reminds me of a graph I did some years ago, although it was nothing to do with galvanic action - mine showed a list of schools from my local authority (just School1, School2 etc.) on the Y axis and on the X axis was the pay grade band (or ISR) allotted to the headteacher, in order to show the variation (and relative position of "my" school). I had sorted the data, so the graph looked just like yours.

    I'll see if I can dig it out to refresh my memory, and to see how it can be adjusted to match your data.

    I might have to change your data into an intermediate table, as most graphs increase positively to the right, but then I'll need to manipulate the data anyway, to suit that layout.

    Back later.

    It's essentially a Gantt chart, no?

    I modified you sheet slightly.
    Named ranges created:
    Alloys =Sheet1!$A$6:$A$36
    HiRef =Sheet1!$B$6:$B$36
    LoRef =Sheet1!$C$6:$C$36

    Chart macro:

    EDIT: modified to delete legend and add alloy names to data points and resize chart via vba
