Dynamic values in cell area, chart and button activated charts

I want to generate a CHART on top of the sheet representing a graph which shows development over time on the different tests.

I want this chart to change depending on which test and thereby which button that is activated.

To do this i need the X number of cells from the top to bottom to be dynamic in order to generate the graph and not locked to specific cells.

So the question is, can i generate a table from a specified area not linked to specific cells since the content inside the area changes depending on the sorting? For me it would be perfect to generate a table with the top 20 cells for example and so forth.

Hope this makes sense. I have twisted my brain around this for weeks.

    G'day and Welcome,

If I have understood you, I'm guessing that you take the scrolling chart idea and make it your own. Please note that I haven't seen or not yet made a chart that move dynamically horizontal.
Have I made you happy ??? If yes, please make me happy by pressing the http://www.excelforum.com/images/buttons/reputation-40b.png Add Reputation button in my post.
Please don't forget to do the same to other contributors of this forum.

    Thanks
    I don't void confusion, I create it

Thanks. You are not too far off.

So, what I need the graph to do is to be fixed to the DATE area on the horizontal axis and whichever test I want to evaluate on the vertical axis. Scrolling chart is a possible solution to the presentation of this.

However, my problem is that I need the area which the chart draws it's data from to be dynamic, ie, it does not draw data from specific cells but say the TOP 20 cells no matter which ID they have. This is because depending on the NAME I want to evaluate and look into, all the top cells will have different values.

I haven't seen this function ever before and trust me I have looked.

A workbook is of more use.

    1. Make sure that your sample data are REPRESENTATIVE of your real data. The use of unrepresentative data is very frustrating and can lead to long delays in reaching a solution.

    2. Make sure that your desired results are also shown (mock up the results manually).

    3. Make sure that all confidential data is removed or replaced with dummy data first (e.g. names, addresses, E-mails, etc.).

    4. Try to avoid using merged cells as they cause lots of problems.

Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment, so to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

Please pay particular attention to point 2 (above): without an idea of your intended outcomes, it is often very difficult to offer appropriate advice.
