How to add data shown in years and months?

I am trying to create a chart to show my students reading ages. I have the data in years and months for example. 8.1 = 8 years 1 month but how can I represent this in a chart? For example, a child that is 8 years 11 months is showing as less than a student who is 8 years 9 months as in decimals, 8.9 is more than 8.11

Please tell me there is a way to do this?!?

The easiest way is to change your coding system, so 8 years and 1 month is recorded as 8.01.

    Hope this helps.
