vertical axis title overwrites axis values

I don't know if this is a bug or a bad setting, but I do not seem top be able to set the position of the title to the vertical axis. It overwrites the values on the axis. title_overlay.png When I try to edit the axis, there is an option for vertical position but not horizontal. title_edit.png

This seem only to happen when I have included a secondary vertical axis. In most graphs, it seems like Excel automatically spaces the titles and moves the graph and axis values to accommodate it. I see in this example that the "Allow text to overflow shape" appears to be checked, but ghosted.

Re: vertical axis title overwrites axis values

When I see this, it is because something (often me) caused the plot area to be too wide, so there is not enough room between the edge of the plot area and the chart area for the axis title. Fix is to select the plot area (not the axis or the chart area) and move/size the plot area so there is enough room for the axis title.

Re: vertical axis title overwrites axis values

Thanks. I tried that and it would not resize. It will if I remove the secondary axis, though.

Oddly, I can no longer put the secondary axis back in. If I select a series and apply it to the secondary axis, the axis is no longer created. When I click Format Axis - it only shows the option Format Axis Title, so it seems I really screwed something up in the bowels of Excel. There is no secondary axis but it does list the series as being on the "secondary axis." Looks like a case to start over again. Not sure I can reproduce an example of this.

A quick test in my copy of Excel cannot recreate this behavior. With or without a secondary axis, I can readily resize the plot area in a chart. If you can recreate the situation and upload a sample file, we may be able to identify what is going on that prevents you from resizing the plot area or whatever else is going on to cause the axis labels and title to overlap like this.
