    is it possible to calculate the median in the pivot table

    In Pivot table field list under Values, I see two different tabs in the Value Field settings in EXCEL 2010 version,
    (a) summarize values by
    (b) show values as

    In "summarize values by" tab, the dropdown list contains
    "sum, count, average, max, min, product, count numbers, stddev, stddevp, var and varp" but NO "median".

    In "show values as" tab, there is no median either.

    Is there a way to calculate the median of the data during the process of pivoting the original data table ?

    I think the answer is 'No'.

    The way I do it is pivot using a unique primary key in the Rows area, and placing the 'Sum' of the item you want a median for in the values area.

    Then have a formula outside the pivot equaling the median for the entire column that holds the sum values.

    In the example the formula is;
