Count Distinct in Pivot table, without double counting?

Say I have data on people taking exams. Some people take the exam more than once:
Name Pass/Fail

Jack Fail

Jack Fail

Jack Pass

Emily Pass

Dan Fail





I want to make a pivot table that tells me how many people passed the test and how many people failed the test. That said, someone like Jack should only appear in the passed row. How can I do this? I need to use a pivot table since the data I am doing with this is more complicated than the example above.

Is there a "Count Distinct appearances of Name based off order categories (i.e pass/fail) appear in pivot table"?
