    Change Chart Axis Labels to 1st of Each Month

    I currently have a chart with the horizontal axis being dates from 1/1/18 - 1/1/19, but I need each date and corresponding section to be the first of each month. I checked out the Office Excel help page titled: Display or change dates on a category axis, but it doesn't work for my version of Excel (I don't have the Base option under units nor the date options in units).

    Unfortunately, this is my first post so I can't give you any images or links.

    Based on those pictures it looks like you are using an XY scatter chart, which does not have the same "category/date axis" options like you saw described in the help file. In order to get those options, you need to change your chart type to line and make sure that Excel designates the horizontal axis as a "date axis". Then you should have the options to set base unit as month and so on.

    These essays are fairly old (still referencing Excel 2003), so some of the dialogs are different, but the basic principles between horizontal value axis, date axis, or category axis should still apply:
