    Exclamation Filter Pivot Table Data

    Hello,

I am looking to make my pivot table report only values that are created in one mode for the same name based on which mode produces higher values. I have a raw data tab in which the pivot table pulls from and would like all data and info to stay in that tab but only pull one section of data for the pivot table.
What I would like to see for example:
    Raw Data Tab
Name (column 1): Carbon, Amount (column 2): 23.64, Mode (column 3): Positive
Name (column 1): Carbon, Amount (column 2): 88.64, Mode (column 3): Positive
Name (column 1): Carbon, Amount (column 2): 32.64, Mode (column 3): Negative
Name (column 1): Carbon, Amount (column 2): 2.64, Mode (column 3): Negative
Name (column 1): Sodium, Amount (column 2): 56.64, Mode (column 3): Positive
Name (column 1): Sodium, Amount (column 2): 1.64, Mode (column 3): Positive
Name (column 1): Sodium, Amount (column 2): 7.64, Mode (column 3): Negative
Name (column 1): Sodium, Amount (column 2): 201.64, Mode (column 3): Negative

    Pivot Table Tab
Name (column 1): Carbon, Amount (column 2): 23.64, Mode (column 3): Positive
Name (column 1): Carbon, Amount (column 2): 88.64, Mode (column 3): Positive
Name (column 1): Sodium, Amount (column 2): 7.64, Mode (column 3): Negative
Name (column 1): Sodium, Amount (column 2): 201.64, Mode (column 3): Negative

Many of the names are the same in the column, the ion mode is different for different amounts, and the sum of the amounts is higher in positive mode for carbon and higher in negative mode for sodium. I would like my pivot table to only report all values for the mode with the higher sum amount, like shown above. I cannot figure out a command to set this up and I cannot figure out how to have the pivot table do this filter. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

    Re: Filter Pivot Table Data

    Hi carlberg44,
It would help if you posted an example file of where you are now & a mock up of what you want.
You've provided a good explanation but a file would be best.
    Thanks

    Re: Filter Pivot Table Data

    Hello,

I am actually unable to provide an example of what I have and what I need due to privacy reasons. I am wondering if there is a way to either make the raw data tab exclude the lower concentration total in whichever mode (in this case, negative mode would be excluded for Carbon and positive mode would be excluded for Sodium) for multiple rows of the same name data or if there is a way to make the pivot table only extract the higher concentration total mode. In the raw data tab I have tried IF, IFS commands, IF(AND, etc. but can't come up with a way to command properly. For example I've tried something like IF(AND([Name]=[Name],[Mode]<>[Mode],[Concentration]>[Concentration]),etc. but I don't know how to get excel to compare all separate sample replicates of the same name in a different mode and distinguish which has a higher concentration sum. If I can figure that out, I can set up a column to link to a filter on the pivot table to exclude whichever rows from the table. I'm sorry I can't be more specific but I hope this helps understand a little better. Any suggestion and/or attempt at a solution would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you
