Automatic update of date criteria in excel formula pulled from a Pivot table

=GETPIVOTDATA("Count of Case #",'export data'!$AB$38,"FH Name","City-State","Month-Year",DATE(2019,5,1))

Is there a way to have the formula recognize the date field in the Pivot table (2019,5,1); without having to update it each month. For this formula, I updated the 4 (april) to a 5 for May. I would like to automate this monthly task if possible on several spreadsheets

You could simply enter the date in a cell and refer to that from the GETPIVOTDATA formula(s).

Tried that but it didnt seem to work; maybe i am typing the formula incorrectly...

What exactly did you try, what happened, and what was in the cell you used as a reference?
