    Excel Chart-Remove Outliers Issue-Unorthodox Approach

I have a customer who doesn't like the look of the outliers in a bar chart. For instance, one has 100 total, and the remainder average 5. I personally don't like messing with this, but they want it to look different. The answer is either really obvious, or has data integrity issues. Below is an example of what I am talking about.

Average score is 5. Outlier is 100. If I change the chart range to 10, it looks weird even if I apply the 100 score next to the outlier. Are there any real good options here outside of simply changing the chart range because that to me looks ridiculous.

PS-Removing the outliers isn't an option to the customer. It has to be there somewhere in the chart.

Sounds as if you may be looking for a "broken" bar chart as discussed in the linked article below.

Note that you have to scroll to the bottom of the article to see the method applied to a bar chart.

Jon Peltier, a charting blogger I follow, does not like broken axis charts -- though you can certainly choose to use one if you like. He recommends a panel chart instead: https://peltiertech.com/broken-y-axis-in-excel-chart/ In your situation, a panel chart may be a good option. One panel readily shows the full data set and how the outlier(s) are very different from the rest of the data, and the second panel shows the main data.
