Duplicate a pivot table built with a PowerQuery connection

    Hello Everyone,

I have a file containing several pivot tables and charts that I built using a source file loaded as a connection in PowerQuery.
I constantly add data to the source file and then refresh the pivot tables and that works fine.

Now I need to duplicate the whole thing because I need to use the same pivot tables and charts but with another source file (same format), but also still use the old one as usual.

I have copied the whole folder (which contains the source file and the pivot file) and I updated the path of the source file in the "Data source setting" to the new one, but when I refresh the pivot tables it gives me an error message saying that the inputs were modified and I need to disable and re-enable loading to the Data Model for this query.

Can anyone help with this? What do I need to do next to have the copied pivot file read normally from the copied source file?
I am trying to avoid having to build the whole pivot tables and charts again…

Re: Duplicate a pivot table built with a PowerQuery connection

From what i understand this problem happens when you make structural changes using Power Pivot to the original structure, such as deleting or renaming a column. when this happens, power pivot changes the connection to read-only. you can check in your connection properties and you will see the connection string is greyed out.

My advice would be to go back to the original file and update this file so that all structural changes are made in Power Query and not power pivot. then when you copy the files, the connections should editable

I might not be the answer you wanted to hear, sorry!
