Issues with copying results of a filtered list

    Hello all,

First time posting, so thank you in advance for reading.

I'm stuck with what seems like it should be a simple problem to solve. I have two very long lists that I want to compare. I'm using "Filter" under the "Data" tab to filter the results of List A, to get a shortened list. Next, I want to simply copy the short list and paste it to a separate spreadsheet to compare for duplicates.

However, when I attempt to paste the results of List A to List B, only some of the results show up. To demonstrate what I mean, please see the example image attached with this message. All 9 results should copy over from Column A to Column I. However, this does not occur. Only Rows 3-9 copy over.

How can I copy/paste all of the filtered results? Using "Alt ;" or selecting "Visible cells only" under "Go to Special" does not work either. Any idea what I'm doing wrong here? Thanks

That's because your are pasting result on to same worksheet as filtered list.

Excel filter, will hide not just the range, but Entire Row.
EDIT: Check your image. You will notice that Row 10 is hidden.

Hence, your row 10 is hidden, and you don't see Row 11 value in pasted range (which is at Row 10).

Remove filter from original list and you will see that it's pasted in Row 10.

Typically, you'd copy filtered range, and paste it on to new worksheet to avoid this.

Re: Issues with copying results of a filtered list

Ah, it appears that I was making a silly mistake after all! As you pointed out, my issue was due to pasting the filtered rows to a separate sheet that was also filtered. I was able to copy the data by making sure I was pasting to a sheet with no hidden rows.

Thank you CK76 for your help with this!!
