    Filtering and Pivot Tables

    Hey everyone,

I am sorting data with a pivot table. The data I have is incomplete and I am having to work with what I received. I am trying to see how long various employees worked during the work week. Since a few times were inputted wrong or incomplete, I made a column that only includes times I am excluding. With the data that I do have, I want to show those complete times and give a count of how many of the times reported I am not including. I am using the excluded time column in the pivot table, but it counts all the times for a specific worker instead of only the excluded time. I’ll give an example. From the complete date, it shows Ely worked a total of 9 hours and 1 minute during the week. There are two times Ely doesn’t have accurate data. The counts of excluded time includes all times instead of the time the data isn’t accurate. I'd like for the pivot table to show the grand total of total time worked as 9 hours and 1 minute and the grand total of amount excluded as 2. Is there a way to filter the count of excluded time column so it can show what I need? Thanks for the help.

    Re: Filtering and Pivot Tables

    Two options to consider:

    1. Under PivotTable > Analyze > Fields, Items, & Sets, there is a 'calculated field' where you can fiddle with creating a new field using a formula that manipulates your existing fields

    2. Perhaps easier to manage: are you allowed to create a new column on the "Given Data" sheet? I called it 'Excluded Days' in the attachment and calculated it with: =IF(H2<=0,1,0). Use it in your pivot instead of Excluded Time, and it behaves much better.
