    Help with Negative Values

    Hello,

Could someone please show me how I can create a chart to display the attached Gross to Net values in a way that it makes sense to the person viewing it? I am looking to do a cascading column chart which will show the gross sales in the first column and the allowances in the subsequent columns but in a different color and in a high to low order. Thanks!

    Hi Philipsfn,

"Makes sense to management" was impossible with some of my past managers. They couldn't read charts!! See if a Waterfall chart works for you. You might leave out the last net value from the chart to show them were it ends up.

    Good luck!!

    Re: Help with Negative Values

I agree that a waterfall chart is the best way to look at this and explain it, however, I disagree about getting rid of the last bar. It just needed to be changed to a total. Here is my stab at your request. I think it makes the point pretty clear.
