Question Multiple Data Points for a Single Day

I have some data points, the number of them vary day to day. I want to plot the points either scatter connected with lines or line graph so that all the points are shown and the X-axis shows the date at the beginning point of that day only. Does anyone know how I can do this?

Probably using a dynamic named range.

Can you post a workbook, so the answer can be specific?

    Now with attached sheet

This is just the beginning of the data. Each point listed under a date should be plotted connected by lines between that day and the next day. Where the dates are plotted on the x and the data on the y. I have tried setting up the numbers differently but if I make the date the x value for plotting and the data the y it ends up plotting it all in vertical lines.

I'm not sure exactly what you want the chart to look like.

This plots each row as a series, Line. with dates as categories.
The data range has been made into a list (table in xl2007) and the chart is based on the list so new rows and columns will automatically appear.

    Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear

I have rearranged the data to make it more clear what I am trying to do. If you look at the wooksheet. I would like to plot the numbers from column B in a scatter plot connected with lines, or a line graph so that all the points are plotted like in chart 1 but I would like the x-axis to reflect the dates that the data is from, where the dates are shown in column A.

Still unclear exactly what you want.

Basically a chart can only plot the information you give it.

    Thank you

Thanks Andy, that was exactly what I was looking for (line chart with categories)!

Re: Multiple Data Points for a Single Day

Sorry to drag an old thread up. I am having exactly the same problem. Andy, the chart in your last post entitled 'Line chart as categories' displays the data in exactly the way I want to display mine. However, when I try to draw a line chart, it displays multiple data values for the same day at the same point on the x-axis so there is just a vertical line connecting all values. I want it to display the data so that each data value is plotted at a different point on the x-axis, next to the last data value. How did you get it to plot the data in the way shown in your chart? I have been struggling with this problem for hours now! Thanks in advance.
