Conditional formatting doesn't seem to work each time I open the Gantt chart.

Hope someone can help find what is causing the problem I have with the simple Gantt chart that I have downloaded. I have entered values from my dropdown list with associated colors that I have noted in a tab called Events. All looks good with saving the file until each time I open the Gantt chart. What I see is every other value is either blank or has no color until I select one and enter, then all colors come back. I've gone through all my conditional formatting but I'm not sure what to look for.
