Pivot Table - Eliminate the updating on certain fields

Is there a way to make a specific field on a pivot table excluded from an update?
We use MANY different pivot tables with large amounts of data. So we might have CODE and Count. We only want to see certain codes, so we choose only those we want to see. New codes are added often, but what we want to see doesn't change. It automatically adds all the new codes on update and we have to go into every column on many pivot tables to un-check those new codes. Can I update all the data on that pivot table, but not allow new codes to be added to our filtered CODE column? Thanks so much for your help.
