2 y-axes, not displaying both data ranges

    Hello,

Recently I began a new job and am using an Excel sheet template created by a past employee. In this template there are 14 sheets containing charts. The charts display the storm water flow height for each location along one y-axis with the rain data shown along the adjacent y-axis. Clean versions of the templates are kept and the data is changed every month. Monthly rain data is imported into a Rain Data sheet in the same book as the chart sheets. I "Get External Data" from a Text file. When I copy and paste the rain data, the charts from the other sheets don't update the rain data, but do update the flow heights.

When I click on the cells, they are in a general number format. All of the charts have the correct series values and I have even tried to manually select the data by clicking the column, but the charts still don't update.

If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,

    Jay

    Welcome to the forum

Please attach a sample workbook (not a picture or pasted copy). Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

Click on GO ADVANCED and then scroll down to Manage Attachments to open the upload window.

Make sure the pasted values are going in as values and not text. One quick way to tell is the default alignment of text is to the left and numeric values to the right.

I tried to upload the files as attachments, but it's saying that they are too big.

The pasted data is going in as values. The sum of those values is than calculated in another column (Column F) in the same sheet and that data is being converted into negatives in the column after (Column G). The charts have selected data in Column G, but are not updating when Column G converts the data.

Are you not able to trim down your file? We only need to see something that illustrates the problem, not the full data set.

I have deleted almost everything in the file and can't get it below 1200Kb. I deleted all of the headings, data, and everything. I don't know how to make it any smaller.

Really hard to diagnose without being able to see anything.

I assume Calculation is set to Automatic?

    Hey Andy,

I know pictures aren't nearly as helpful as an actual form, but you guys are the only chance that I have at possibly figuring this out. Okay so the first picture is the graph that I have on Sheet 1. As you can see, the flow data has already been properly updated, but the rain gauge data has not. The second picture is where I import the rain data. The RainFall Amount in Column B is in 15 minute intervals. A sum for each day is totaled in Column F, and a negative amount is adjusted in Column G because the rain data appears from the secondary x-axis located at the top of the graph. I apologize if I am making this more difficult than it needs to be, but I can't figure this out.

    Thank you,

    Jay

Re: 2 y-axes, not displaying both data ranges

The Rain Gauge data appears to range between -1.58 and 0.

You chart appear to have a vertical axis between 0 and 3

Therefore none of the data is within the range of you scale. Adjust the scale
