Entering my own numbers in X axis

    Hello all,

I have a simple bar graph with 3 set of data, Y axis is good.

But i need to put a simple 1, 2, and 3 under each set of data on the X axis. Right now it has defaulted to 1-14. How do I space these out and just use 1, 2 and 3.

Its an experiment graph for my 10 year old. We burned 4 different types of wood 3 times and we need to show each data set labeling them 1, 2, and 3 on the x axis.

I cant upload a pic yet or I would

    thanks so much

For bar/column graphs, Excel should normally display whatever text is in the "horizontal category axis labels" range. If you did not choose a column (or Excel did not recognize the column it should use) for axis labels, you can add a range by bringing up the "Select Data" dialog, find the field for the "horizontal category (x) axis", and pointing Excel to the column of values it should use for the axis labels. Then you can enter you desired label text in that range.

Not sure how you got 1-14 when 3x4 data point is only 1-12.

Anyway there are various ways you can layout your data and the labels for the x axis.
